Ever Wondered Why Dogs Chase Cars? Here's Why

As rightly said by Milan Kundera- “Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.”

There are different explanations for why dogs chase cars.

Dogs

Some say that dogs are territorial animals like humans and they tend to have their own areas. They keep urinating on trees and wheels of cars to expand their area. When a car enter their area which has the urine of other dog it makes the dog think some other dog is entering their area and so they tend to chase the cars to keep the intruder away.

Angry Dogs

Another reason would be revenge against cars that would have hurt them or a dog from their pack.

Playing Dogs

Dogs also chase because of their instinctive reaction to anything that goes away from them at a certain speed, because their species is programmed with ‘hunting’ down anything that seems to escape them.
