If there was ever a thing to unabashedly challenge your view of the world, it'd have to be this global map that apparently knows more about these countries than you ever did. And the difference is as good as a 360 degree flip.

India's not known for how colourful it is or how helpful its people are or even the Taj Mahal. According to this map, India's popular for its bananas. Our errant cousin and neighbour, Pakistan, apparently loves its gay porn. Now, who would've thought...

This 'International number ones' map was created by David McCandless, and is a collection of data from sources that include Guiness World Records and the World Bank, to name a few. The index on the bottom of the map goes as high up as straight up 'nasty.'

Other audacious facts: France isn't the most romantic in the world. It's the most drunk on whiskey! And Colombia's not reeling under the weight of an oppressive economy; it's actually quite happy.

Exchange of scrapped notes ends, deposit them in banks till December 30

Over-the-counter exchange of high value notes, which were scrapped earlier this month, will stop from Friday, the government announced on Thursday. However, it also extended use of the Rs 500 note for some specific purposes up to December 15. "It has been observed that over-the-counter exchange of old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denominations has shown a declining trend," a finance ministry statement said after the government reviewed the situation.

"It has further been felt that people may be encouraged and facilitated to deposit their old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in their bank accounts. This will encourage people who are still unbanked to open bank accounts," it said.

From November 25 onwards, old notes can only be deposited in banks until December 30.

The government had permitted various exemptions for certain transactions and activities, such as buying cooking gas cylinders and railway tickets, payments at government hospitals, pharmacies, toll plazas and petrol pumps where payment could be made through old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes up to November 24. It has now decided to extend the use of only the Rs 500 note for these transactions up to December 15. Use of the Rs 1,000 rupee note will not be allowed.

You can also use old Rs 500 notes to pay school and college fees. These entities must be central, state government, municipality or local body schools or colleges. Old notes can also be used for pre-paid mobile topup to a limit of Rs 500.

And Here We Are, Kabaddi World Cup 2016 Champions!!

The finals of the Kabaddi World Cup 2016 was between the two stallions of the sport- India and Iran.

Though India was struggling in the first half with Iran leading the first half, they made a heroic comeback in the second half to win the kabaddi world cup third time in a row by beating Iran by 38-29.

Coldplay's Concert is just getting bigger !!!

There has been quite a buzz ever since the much-anticipated Coldplay concert in Mumbai was announced. The band is coming to India as part of Global Citizen's first-ever India concert a list of Bollywood stars will join them on the stage.

The British rock band will headline the show which will also have performance by 21 time grammy award winner rapper Jay Z.

There will also be lots of performances of Bollywood stars like Aamir Khan, A R Rahman, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, Arijit Singh, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Monali Thakur which has just multiplied the excitement of this event.

But as if this was not enough, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar have also joined the event and these two will be joining the Band on stage. 

Apart from SRK, Parineeti Chopra, Ayushmann Khurrana, Malaika Arora Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sakshi Malik and Vijender Singh have also added their name to the celebrity line-up, according to a statement from the organisers.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of the Global Citizen India initiative as it educates people about crucial global issues - gender equality, water, sanitation and hygiene, quality education being just a few of them. Through the Global Citizen platform, each one of us can play a part in this journey by doing our bit, by taking actions for a positive change; to make this world an even better place to live," Parineeti Chopra said in a statement.

Global Citizen Indian Movement, which works for eradicating extreme poverty, will hold their first ever Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai on November 19. The first two phases in which the ticket sales of the festival were opened for online booking, were sold out within a day.

If this happens, this is going to be the biggest celebrity event of the year!

'Aiyoh' & 'Aiyah' Made Its Entry To Oxford English Dictionary

How many times in a day does words like “Aiyoh” and “Aiyah” come to your mouth? Probably many a times in a day’s talk.

The words are so widely used that the Oxford English Dictionary has included them in its latest addition this September. The OED was and is the Bible of “correct English” for many children in the English-speaking world. It is widely regarded as the accepted authority and guide on the English language -- something you refer to when in doubt.

Like many Indian words, this one is loaded and can mean many things depending on context and tone -- irritation, disgust, surprise, dismay, pain, lament, disappointment, with ‘Aiyah’ and ‘Aiyoh’ being interchangeable. The variants of these two words are widely used in many South Asian countries.

The OED also shows that the two words commonly used in South India originates from China- as ‘Aiyoh’ is Mandarin and ‘Aiyah’ comes from Cantonese dialects of Chinese language. 

OED has also included words like YOLO (You Only Live Once), Moobs (Man Boobs), casa, cheerlead and gender-fluid among others.

Mamta Banerjee Writes Song For Durga Puja

Like last year chief minister Mamta Banerjee penned the theme song for a well-known community puja, Suruchi Sangha- one of the main pujas in the city organised by Trinamool Congress leader and state Youth and Sports Minister Aroop Biswas.

Not only Banerjee but top composers, singers and DJs of Bengali film industry have recorded custom-made Puja music for various organizers in the city this year.

Banerjee's song this year 'Prithibi Ektai Desh' (the world is one country) talks about universal brotherhood, harmony and peace. The music is composed by Jeet Ganguly and has been sung by playback singer Palak Muchhal. The video has been directed by cine director Kaushik Ganguly with creative inputs by Churni Ganguly.

Not only Suruchi Sangha but major puja organisers are also into the fray to create theme songs for their pujas. The big organisers who are in the list include major pujas like Chetla Agragami, Bosepukur-Talbaga, Sreebhumi Sporting Club, Tollygunge Udyan Club and Selimpur Naskarpara. In some cases the organisers themselves have lent their voices to their respective theme songs.

For Naktala Udayan Sangha, which is patronized by State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, the theme song is being sung by singer Surojit and Sayan Ghosh. The theme of the puja is inner value. The theme song of Hindusthan Club this year is called 'Parar Gaan' (Song of the Neighbourhood). It has been penned by senior TMC leader Chandrima Bhattacharya and music is composed by Debaditya Chaudhury.

The theme songs are also released as audio CDs 15-20 days ahead of Durga Puja and are uploaded on Youtube. Some of the clubs, who cannot afford to pay for top-notch musicians and singers, opt for local singers and have DJs to compose the theme song for their clubs.

Is Pakistan trying to troll India with 'Namak Haram Country' image on Google?

LAHORE: In a bizarre report by a Pakistani daily, Daily Pakistan, published on their website in which they claimed that when one searches for “Namak Haram Country” on Google, it shows India’s flag.

Stooping low in their act, the website says, “Like majority of Pakistanis, the US-based tech giant considers India as a “Namak Haram country’. ”

Reports suggest that Pakistan media is trying to troll India with the image of it, however, it could either be a glitch or work of Pakistani hackers playing with the Search engine optimization (SEO).

‘Namak Haraam’ is one of India’s most famous Hindi movies which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna in the leads.

The story is about a class war that divides two friends and considering it as a classic film in India, it still remains one of the finest movies of India.

So when, a person types the word country after the name of the movie, Google will show the flag and the map of the country where the movie was made.

Users on twitter shared the picture along with angry messages while many other had a laugh riot around it. Twitter users of Pakistan, on the other hand seemed really happy with this Google search result. Indian Twitter seemed to have their share of fun too.
